My First Week in Delium

Introduction:

Hi, I'm Manikandan. I have started my internship at Delium Technologies from 10/02/2025, but how did I get here? What did I go through to get here? And since it's been a week, what have I learned in this time? That is what this blog is going to tell.

 The Drive:

Delium Technologies came to my college for a placement drive. It was a two-day drive (21/11 - 22/11) in 2024. I attended for the role of Customer Success Engineer. I knew nothing about the role before attending; all I knew was that it required good logical and communication skills, so I worked on them.

On the first day (21/11/2024) evening, I attended the aptitude exam. Since I had taken aptitude training that semester, it was easy, and I was confident that I would be shortlisted for the next round—and yes, I was.

Day 2 (22/11/2024) morning was very cold, yet I got up earlier than I usually do. Before the next round, the founder of Delium, Simon, held a little game of sales pitch where I was tasked with selling a water gun with the target audience being whales. I sold it successfully, and then we attended the next round: Data Comprehension. I thought it would be a regular round until we were given a big Excel list and told to answer some questions after analyzing it. The next rounds for us were Group Discussion and Sales Pitch.

I did those rounds well and eventually got shortlisted for the ultimate showdown, the final round, but we were called to the office in Chennai on 06/12/2024.

On the final day, there were three rounds. We were tasked with creating a train ticket system's model, after which I was interviewed by Simon sir, and finally, I did a pitch on a mall proposal in Chennai.

Placed and called for Internship:

I was eagerly waiting for the result, which came on 09/12/2024. I had not been that happy in a long time. After exams, New Year, Pongal, and the new semester, three of us were called in for the internship from 10/02/2025 (Monday). Srinidhi contacted us and conveyed the message of internship.

Day 1 (10/02):

My First day in Delium as an intern turned out to be great, i got to the office after a long traffic with my dad at 9:30 am , my co interns were waiting there for me. I got introduced to the Company’s main product The Miner an AI copilot for the purpose of inventory management. The Miner has many beneficial features to provide the customers. It can Evaluate the amount of stock in storage , no of sold products and give analytical result that will be used to improvise the store’s work. The Features of the Miner:

  • Wastage Reduction
  • Increased bottom line
  • Reordering of products on demand and can also be automated
  • Backup plan for unavailable stock
  • Tracking of orders to the suppliers
  • Suggestions to improve the business on festival times
  • also , repackaging, cashflow ,stockout analysis ,etc.

The Miner's AI capabilities make it a useful tool for businesses to manage their inventory management processes effectively and easily. The system learns from present and past data to make accurate predictions about stock needs. This intelligent automation helps businesses save time and resources while maintaining optimal inventory levels and will reduce the Human intervention. The Miner's integration of AI and machine learning algorithms ensures continuous improvement in its predictions and recommendations over time as the data increases. The day went amazingly as i got my place marked like my go to place in the office and my neighbor is Azar, he’s the one right now clearing my doubts about the product.

Day 2 (11/02):

Today I learnt about the functions of our product and work we have to put on each and every customer. We as a marketing team have to do lead generation by getting new contacts giving them a cold call to explain about our product. Leads can be classified as cold leads , warm leads and hot leads. I was introduced to the work cycle like what to do as a product specialist. Importantly i get to attend a meeting or more likely to say observed a meeting where Reshma instructed a customer (Shanmathi stores or super market ) maybe from Gujarat about how to work on the Eye miner. She took the session about supply chain tracking. I learned many things like how to talk to a customer and more things about how supply chain tracking works in real time.

The Miner provides an option to track Purchase Orders (POs) given to suppliers. The tracking system classifies orders into these categories:

  • Open - Orders awaiting delivery or yet to be delivered.
  • Expired - Orders that remain undelivered even after their due date (resulting in out of stock)
  • Underserved - Orders where the supplier delivered less than the requested quantity (leading to stockouts)
  • Overserved - Orders where the supplier delivered more than requested (causing overstocking and potential waste)

The Miner includes communication features to contact suppliers about these issues through phone calls, emails, and other methods if the options are enabled. I left to home like in 6:15. It was a good day as i got a little bit of understanding on the product.

Day 3 (12/02):

Today we had a standup session which is more like a meeting but it’s like everyone in the company have to stand in a circle and explain what they have done in the past days. So as new comers we the three of us were given exception. Today i have joined in a meeting which is to give a demo for Jyoti departmental store where today’s topic is reordering and scheduling the reorders based on both products and suppliers. by attending the meeting i was able to learn more than what i would have learnt by watching tutorials. For Jyoti super market the purchase head told that some distributors are handling multiple manufacturer’s products. In the session he learned about holding days , expiry lead time offset and minimum order worth. He got introduced to the concept and procedure of adding contact info of suppliers into the Eye, where he wanted to upload suppliers contact in bulk but right now we can only do that one by one. The meeting finished at nearly 5:30 and after that we in the marketing team split the lead contacts for whatsapp campaign to do. The day went very well and I left to home at 6:15.

Day 4(13/02):

Today i arrived at like 9:15 am. Morning we got the procedure of doing whatsapp campaign and started the process for the contacts and i finished like a half of it today, also before lunch i practiced to give a cold call myself and altered a little bit of content to my comfort. After the lunch i attended a the demonstration meeting with Sampoorna supermarket where they was taught about cash flow analysis and budget planning.

Cash-Flow Analysis:

  • The Cash flow analysis is represented as a Grid Chart in The Eye to represent the cash flow in the business.
  • Cash Flow is calculated by subtracting total cash outflows from total cash inflows , this cash flow is calculated to check whether the business with a specific supplier is healthy or not.
  • .The analysis is chromatically as darker the grid of a supplier then cash flow while doing business with him is healthy and as when it is in red shade then action have to be taken as the cash flow is poor.
  • Good cash flow means the business is earning more than what it is spending on suppliers. Poor cash flow indicates that the business is investing more in suppliers than the revenue generated from those articles.
  • The Grid chart representing cash flow will always shows the main suppliers on the top and as we descend down the importance of the suppliers will decrease, so as we see more green shades on the top of the chart the cash flow in the business is good

Budget Planning:

  • The use of budget planner is to recommend and allocate budget for entities both as a group and individually.
  • It will also issue a warning if the investment on that article exceeds the allocated budget.
  • Budget Groups: The Budget Groups shows the product with Spendings on it and today's order worth if it is present in the PO.
  • The Budget group also shows the product highlighted in red if it has exceeded or will exceed the budget soon while including order's worth.
  • When it is still covered under the budget then it will highlight the product in green.
  • Price Band :  The Product can also be analysed on with it's price band, as a article can be compared with other similar articles on the same price range.
  • Mutation:  Enabling the mutation will set maximum and minimum threshold of deviation from the allocated budget for an article.
  • The threshold can be set by the store and when the purchase order of that specific article fall short or exceed the threshold it has to be reviewed and approved to raise the PO.
  • The reorder of an article that exceeded the budget can also be postponed.
  • Mutation Checker: The review can be done by the user and a specific mutation on a slug can be reviewed a specific user and that can also be customized.

Day 5(14/02):

Today, We were introduced to what to do on a meeting such as noting down the queries asked and the concept of Minutes of Meeting. I took notes on the topics covered in yesterday’s meeting with Sampoorna Supermarket so I got to write the Minutes of meeting and Kamalesh wrote the queries asked in the meeting. We continued the whatsapp campaign and i was told to translate the messages to Tamil for sending them to customers those who only know Tamil and i did that and seriously it took a lot of time. After lunch we got ourselves access to the Eye and we also got the biometric finger print scanner so that’s the morning and i played table tennis on evening i was a bit decent in that since i have played it once long ago. I left at 6:00 a bit early than usual.

Conclusion:

So that's pretty much most of the things that happened in my intern. Many good things happened to me like experiencing new place which i always loves to do and as till my college i was always surrounded by people with my age group now it's new to be with people elder than me and i have to get used to it and the only bad thing i got to share is that i have to travel nearly one and a half hour to get to office and it was boring. I really like the environment and will love to have my time ahead here.
